OUR HISTORY
Jamaicans are notorious for being travelers - it's not unusual to encounter one in a remote location somewhere in the world, such as my my long chat with a fellow Jamaican on the island of Isla Grande in Brazil or the woman from Portland living in Switzerland, not Zurich or Geneva but in the high mountains of the Swiss Alps with her Swiss husband, where everything except the language would reminds anyone of being back home in the Blue or John Crow Mountains of Jamaica.
British Airways was the first airline that i flew with when I went to visit my aunt in London for the summer of 84 and it was quite an experience as it was not a smooth flight and it was quite a while before I got over flying at night. But it was it was the years at Trans Jamaica at Kingston where the passion and love of airlines developed.
At University after migrating from Jamaica with my Family to Canada, Heidi who was from Norway always remind me of a Jamaican being the DJ on her radio station and she did lived in a remote region of Norway, by the way.
No wonder I say, as I am convinced that its in our DNA to travel and after working in the travel, hospitality and destination markets for the past 20 years in Canada I would like to share my own experiences.
I would like to introduce HarryWatch and I sincerely intent to make this Canada's leading boutique shop for the travel and leisure markets.
There are palpable changes in the industry and those are influences by new variables such, its my observation and I highlight as an example;
Changing Demographics
1.Today’s trendy travelers are evolving from past preconceptions of what travelling should be really about.
2.Customers from Asia are the youngest, while those from North America are the oldest
3.Europe and North America are the most popular areas for food/drink tours.
4.Global average trip length is 5.3 days
5.Less than 1/3 of customer bookings are made entirely online.
6.More Knowledgeable Travelers
I recognize this as an opportunity and fully understand the profound impact travel can have on people. That's why I chose this business: to help people have a profound travel experiences in their own way.
I believe the world of travel is rapidly changing and that people need a thoughtful, knowledgeable, and caring adviser and coach to guide them through thecomplicated process of planning travel.
I am Jamaican by birth and Harry Watch is the name of the district of my ancestral family in Manchester and as a boy I always dream of traveling as I watched the big country bus that comes runs through my district and i wondered where are all these people going every day.
On a personal level I have always being interested in the travel and hospitality markets and that is reflected in my own experiences in visiting 3 continents and over 10 counties and those first hand knowledge gained was critical in ensuring my clients travel dreams all became a reality.
